Casa Grande

Casa Grande is a modern city in Pinal County that was founded in 1879 and incorporated in 1915. It is named after the Hohokam Indian Ruins located nearby. Casa Grande was originally an agricultural and mining based community, but today it has grown into a modern city with many attractions for full-time and winter residents as well as tourists.

One of the biggest attractions of Casa Grande is its downtown area. Casa Grande was designated a Main Street City in 1992 and revitalization efforts downtown have preserved and enhanced this unique area. Walking through Casa Grande, you can see the historical railroad station and several other historic sites. There are 42 buildings of historical significance in downtown Casa Grande including City Hall, several restaurants and churches, the Historical Society Museum and Paramount Theatre.

The Casa Grande Valley Historical Museum is housed in an old rock church that is itself a unique historical building. It has many displays related to Casa Grande's rural agricultural and mining history and the city's history and development.

Casa Grande's Main Street is lined with many specialty boutiques, antique shops, coffee shops and restaurants. There are many landmark art objects to see in downtown Casa Grande, and both the Casa Grande Art Museum and Gallery One feature art, as well. The Casa Grande Art Museum hosts several art shows throughout the year highlighting a variety of works by Arizona artists.

Two festivals held in the city of Casa Grande are the O'Odham Tash Celebration in February, which is a Native American gathering of tribes event, and the Arizona State Open Chili Championship in March. Casa Grande's Historic downtown is just one of the city's attractions. Casa Grande's many shopping and entertainment options are another. Residents can have fun and pursue their favorite sports and activities at Casa Grande's bowling center, archery range, four golf courses and its rodeo facilities. Casa Grande also features handball and tennis courts as well as 18 parks.

In addition to Main Street's unique shops, there are two major shopping centers in Casa Grande. The Outlets at Casa Grande is a very popular shopping destination with over 42 retail outlet stores. The Promenade at Casa Grande is a 1 million square foot shopping mall with popular and name brand retailers as well as restaurants and a large movie theater.
