Litchfield

Litchfield Park, Arizona is a planned residential community in Maricopa County located 16 miles west of downtown Phoenix. It is within two miles of Interstate 10, making it one of the most convenient suburban communities in the Phoenix Valley. It is also one of the most scenic and charming towns in the area. Litchfield Park originally began as a company town that centered around the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company's agricultural pursuits in the area. It was founded and named after Goodyear junior executive Paul Litchfield in 1926. Goodyear began community master-planning in the 1960s to develop the company town into a vibrant community that would flourish on its own. The efforts were successful, and the town was incorporated in 1987.

From its origins as a small company town, Litchfield Park has evolved into a beautiful small city that Phoenix Magazine hailed - one of the eight best places to live in Arizona. Approximately 5,000 residents enjoy small-town living in this charming city that features excellent schools, gorgeous landscaping and the impressive Wigwam Golf, Tennis and Spa Resort. Outdoor concerts and special events and festivals are held throughout the year in Litchfield Park.

Litchfield Park's casual, comfortable small-town resort lifestyle is accompanied by some impressive economic and scenic attractions. Two miles north of Litchfield Park is Luke Air Force Base, a large, world-renowned training center for fighter pilots. A Morton Salt facility just north of town is also a source of employment for Litchfield residents. In nearby Goodyear, Rubbermaid, Inc., Lockheed Martin and another specialized pilot school as well as the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station 30 miles away offer even more employment opportunities.

There are plenty of scenic attractions in Litchfield Park, including the White Tanks Regional Park. This is a 26,000-acre park that contains ancient petroglyphs as well as natural rock water tanks that were used by Indians inhabiting the area. Estrella Mountain Regional Park is a 19,000-acre park that features golfing, camping, hiking and horseback riding trails.

There are a variety of homes available for sale in Litchfield Park's planned residential communities, including new as well as resale homes, condos, town homes and large estates. Golf Course homes are popular in Litchfield Park as are homes in gated communities.
