Desert Ridge is a master-planned community located in North Phoenix, south of Pinnacle Peak Road between Scottsdale to the east and Cave Creek Road to the west. The 5,700-acre community was started in the late 1990s. Construction continues with the completion of additional Desert Ridge communities such as the 1,300-home Aviano at Desert Ridge.
With its focus on families, Desert Ridge has an active Desert Ridge Parents Group to provide support and services. Children of residents attend schools that are part of the Paradise Valley Unified School District. Each neighborhood within the community has a park and trails for walkers and bikers.
Single-family home prices in Desert Ridge start at a modest $250,000, while at the higher end there are homes priced around $800,000.
Residents can shop for just about anything, dine, take the family to a movie or head for the climbing wall at the1-million-plus square foot Desert Ridge Marketplace. The District is a special section of the Marketplace geared to a younger, hipper crowd. It features an outdoor fireplace, an interactive fountain and videos running on a giant screen. A main stage presents live entertainment.
The public Wildfire Golf Club, on the grounds of the Desert Ridge Marriot Resort, has two golf courses - an Arnold Palmer Signature Course and a Nick Faldo Championship Course. A driving range and practice green area are also available.
The new Aviano at Desert Ridge community features semi-custom homes designed in Tuscan and Spanish Colonial styles, and available in a range of prices. The Aviano Community Center provides residents with a variety of fitness and recreation opportunities with a fully equipped fitness center, an outdoor pool, basketball court and lighted tennis courts. Miles of trails provide outdoor exercise and relaxation.
