Fountain Hills
The community of Fountain Hills is situated in the foothills of the McDowell Mountains, which separate it from Scottsdale to the west. Formerly part of one of the largest cattle ranches in the state, this town of 24,000 is now home to such well-known golf communities as Eagle Mountain and FireRock.
Because Fountain Hills is set amidst mountains and hills, a number of the homes are built on ridges, at elevations that range from 1,500 feet above sea level to over 3,000 feet above sea level. There is a mix of moderate-size, single-family housing, condominiums and larger custom homes. That means a wide range in home prices, starting in the $100,000s and exceeding $3 million. Buyers will also find a variety of architectural home styles to choose from including Santa Fe, Mediterranean, Tuscan and Modern.
The town accommodates a variety of life style preferences with gated subdivisions, golf course homes, its own school district and four parks that provide recreational options for residents of all ages. Fountain Park, largest of the four parks, covers 64 acres and includes a 28-acre lake, as well as the famous fountain that shoots a column of water some 600 feet in the air. Lighted soccer fields, tennis courts and basketball courts can be found at Four Peaks Neighborhood Park. Desert Vista Neighborhood Park features areas for dogs. Fountain Hills has three public golf courses, plus the private Fire Rock Country Club, which is part of the Fire Rock gated community.
While the town is set apart from the more fast-paced urban environment, it is just a short distance from the Loop 101 freeway, which gives residents easy access to the entire Metro area.
