Owner of Giuseppe’s on 28th, Richard Bock says, “I am adding one salad – the Sicilian cold orange salad. It has sliced oranges, black olives, some shaved fennel and just a sprinkle of extra virgin olive oil over the top. It’s fantastic and so incredibly refreshing!” “Right now, we’re doing cold gazpacho,” adds Bock. “We have it every year, but we usually start it when it gets hot. This year is so hot; we’re starting it early because people were asking for it. It’s basically classic gazpacho but we do add some nice, old age balsamic vinegar, so we Italianize it a little bit, but it really is a classic gazpacho.” Other dishes you won’t want to miss include a tasty variety of appetizers, a large selection of bruschetta, hot and cold Italian subs, gnocchi, tortellini, lasagna, salads, soups and homemade desserts. Choose from key lime mascarpone tart, traditional cannoli, tiramisu or flourless chocolate cake. Ballentine Vineyards Fig Tree Vineyard Petite Sirah, Napa 2013 is a great food wine that is sily and smooth. It has been aged 14 months in French Oak and boasts lots of fruit flavor. The second wine is Villa Ligi ParlengoMarche,Italy 2011. The fairly dry wine is made from 100 percent Montepulciano grapes. “I love these wines from La Marche,” says Bock. Last, but certainly not least is the Polpo Rosso, Sicily, Italy 2014. This is a lighter red wine from 100% Nerello Mascalese grape. This grape is native to Sicily and is a great summer wine.
