A couple of times each year, Arizona Restaurant Association produces Arizona Restaurant Week to showcase a variety of restaurants throughout the Valley. The Fall 2016 edition of Arizona Restaurant Week takes place September 16-25 and the dining possibilities will have you craving everything from tacos and sushi to barbecue, steak and fine dining.

During Fall Arizona Restaurant Week 2016, participating restaurants offer meals for $33 or $44 per person for a three-course prix fixe menu. Some participating restaurants are offering vegetarian and gluten-free plates and some meals include a beverage. Check for a complete list of participating restaurants and menus. was invited to preview the Arizona Restaurant Week menu at Roka Akor in Scottsdale and you’re definitely in for a delicious and engaging dining experience!

Our group was treated to a generous tasting of each appetizer, entrée, side and dessert being offered at Roka Akor during Arizona Restaurant Week Fall 2016. As a bonus, we also were greeted with signature cocktail, “The Waitlist.” The drink imparts a symphony of flavors as it includes EFFEN Vodka, St. Germaine, Grapefruit, Lemon and Peychaud Bitters. What a beautiful way to kick off the dinner!

We started with thinly-sliced albacore ceviche, a crispy fried squid salad and salt spring mussels. Each appetizer reflected a thoughtfully prepared recipe designed with a unique flavor profile. Although my personal favorite was the albacore ceviche, I was also pleasantly surprised by the crispy fried squid salad. You’ll receive your choice of an appetizer, entrée, side dish, dessert and of course, the cocktail for the $44 per person menu at Roka Akor during Arizona Restaurant Week Fall 2016. My suggestion would be to take a few friends so you can get a taste of everything on the restaurant’s menu. Every bite reflects the highest in food quality and engaging food profiles that will have your table cheering.

While we waited in anticipation for our entrees, our group enjoyed the crispy Brussels sprouts and Baechu kimchi. If you are not a fan of Brussels sprouts, you are urged to give the Roka Akor version a try. Cooked to tender perfection and featuring just a kiss of Japanese mustard, this is a preparation you most likely have not tried before.

The entrée selections included Arizona grass-fed tenderloin, grilled loup de mer and Two Wash Ranch chicken. Each entrée was outstanding, but the flavor winner by the slightest of margins was the grilled loup de mer which boasted an ever-so-slightly crisped exterior with a smooth truffle avocado spread and charred lemon – a dish as beautiful as it was delicious.

Dessert at Roka Akor is always the ultimate treat and the selections for Arizona Restaurant Week Fall 2016 didn’t disappoint! The milk chocolate panna cotta came with a tangy smattering of passion fruit curd and macerated raspberry. The sweet corn torte with banana miso ice cream was also an enticing flavor combination that was simply heavenly. Where else can you find mini white chocolate covered malted milk balls? I’m not sure, but I discovered them at Roka Akor adorning the sweet corn torte. Wow!

If you have never dined at Roka Akor, you are in for a fine dining experience in a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. Arizona Fall Restaurant Week Fall 2016 is the perfect time to get out to Roka Akor and taste some of the finest dishes the Valley has to offer!
